Our family is so blessed to be able to announce the arrival of our sweet girl through the miracle of adoption.
Layla is so excited to be a big sister....
...and this is the reason I have been slacking on the blog these last few months. :)
Stamps and Christmas Cards
This morning we took a neighborhood walk to the Post Office to get some stamps for our Christmas Cards we will be mailing out. They all decided to pick out the Christmas stamps for their cards. Today during class time they began working on decorating their Christmas Cards, and they can't wait to put their stamps on the envelopes to mail out to their family.
Free Choice Monday
Today we did things a little different. Before starting class time and circle time, we bundled up and headed outside for our morning walk. We saw the Christmas decorations inside of different shops. The centipedes were excited to count all the Christmas trees they say inside and outside of the shops. There were four Christmas trees total around one block.
During class time, some of the centipedes chose to make snowflakes.
Zoe, Katy and Sam just wanted to practice their cutting. Zoe liked to pretend she was cutting out Santa Clause.
Chloe wanted to sort out the green and red circles from the game 'Four in a row'.
Anna Lee set up the game, 'Zingo'. Later Sam joined her and they played together.
Will practiced his small motor skills, shapes and colors with a jumbo piece puzzle.
Exploring Snow
Materials Needed:
- "Grow Snow" or "FX Snow"
- Water
- Droppers for water
- Spoons for mixing and scooping
- Cups for adding snow powder
- Creativity
Simply add water to snow powder and it grows to 1000 times it's original size!
Together we discussed what we saw when we added water to the snow powder. The preschoolers noticed that the snow was getting bigger when we added water to it. The snow expanded.
We talked about the texture of the snow.
The preschoolers observed that it felt wet, cold, squishy, and tickly.
The days have been getting darker and colder. Winter is upon us and we hope to see some real snow soon. Until then, we will just make do with our own.
