Our Friend and Teacher, Natasha
Some of you may recognize our special guest today, Teacher Natasha, from a few (5!) years ago. She has been teaching overseas and came to visit us before she returns to Beijing China.
During circle time, she shared with us all the places she has worked since she taught at Tiny Tribe ..... Poland, South Korea, Tawain, and China.
She taught us how to greet people in the different countries that she has lived in and shared pictures from her classroom in Beijing. She shared some of the circle time songs that she does with the three and four-year old children in her class. The songs were a big hit and the Centipedes seemed to really enjoy her energy and her mix of kindness and firmness. Natasha has been spreading Positive Displine across the world to every school she teaches at. We are glad that she was able to come and visit us!

Kids love spending time outdoors in all types of weather. Getting outside each day is important for their bodies, minds, and spirits.
The Beetles have been practicing walking, listening, stopping, and holding hands instead of riding in the buggy. Today they met up with the Centipedes.
The kids ran back and forth between Victoria and Jena on the sidewalk. The loved the freedom to move and run and explore.
Austin and Chase find a puddle to jump in and have a great time splashing and laughing together.
A car revved up it's engine as it passed by us on the street. Wiley and the other kids stopped to notice what the loud noise was.
Lena made a cool discovery.

Taking a Closer Look at Ourselves- Self Portraits
The Centipedes are learning about each other and sharing about the things that are important to them. All five of our Centipede girls this morning shared about how they love their baby dolls and how they take good care of them. Next, we looked at pictures of children from all over the world and looked at some of the toys the children liked, where they lived, and how they go to school. Our preschoolers said that they liked the toys they saw and thought that the girls from other countries would all probably like baby dolls too.
We are learning about ourselves, friends, neighbors, and potential friends from around the world to see how we each bring something new to share but also how we can learn about and appreciate our differences. Everyone loved their baby doll but we also noticed that each doll was different and they shared different things about them. During class time we asked the preschoolers to take a close look at themselves in the mirror and draw what they see. We offered a variety of flesh tone markers for them to use and they chose and drew what they saw in the mirror: their unique selves.
Anna Lee took a long look at herself in the mirror, talking about her eyes and sharing about the details she saw in her own face.
Lena used the mirror to double check her picture... did she get everything on her paper she saw in her reflection?
She then took another look at her reflection to see what she was missing.
Lena added her hair into her picture and an ear... just one.. she said "I only saw one ear."
Myla drew her head and her eyebrows to start and then added arms and legs to her body, carefully checking back with the mirror at times looking for little details.
Kaya drew details of her face, noting that she has blue eyes and looked to find a blue crayon to color her eyes in. Kaya drew very detailed facial features one at a time. On the paper they may not have come together as a traditional face yet but she took time and care to draw each one on her paper.
Eva was so excited to share her picture while she was working on it. She drew her bangs and the little wisps of hair on the side of her face.
Centipede Share Day
Kaya pointed out the colors in her painting; pink, blue, red and yellow. She also pointed to her name in the corner and was proud to spell it out and show her friends, K-A-Y-A.
Eva brought her doll, spoon, and cupcake to share. She showed her friends how she feeds "Dora the Explorer" and made sure they knew the cupcake was not real.
Chase was excited to share his monkey "Blackie." He told his friends how Blackie is for Jena's house and that Jelly is his monkey for his house. He likes Jelly better :)
Austin was proud to show off his art project. He named his project, Lena, and everyone thought that was pretty hilarious. He was proud of all the colors that he used.
Myla shared her "hot-pink" headband with her friends by letting each one of them try it on. Some thought it was a good look for them while others preferred to pass. She explained how she accidentally left her headband at Chloe's birthday party but she got it back today.
Lena shared her hat from the Seattle zoo. She was excited to tell her friends that she has had the hat for a long time and that her dad gave it to her. All of her favorite animals are pictured on her hat but her very favorite are the baby lions.
Bodhi was thrilled to share his "Spectacular Spider-man" dvd. He enjoyed dancing with his friends to the Spider-man theme song and even showed them a few spider moves.
