Fun at the Kenney Home :)
We headed to the Kenney Home today and shared in balloon fun and Holiday Cheer with them. We sang carols with them.. Rudolph, Jingle Bells, and Up on the House Top along with some of their favorite songs. They passed out a stocking treat to each of us to bring home before we left.
Class Time with Centipedes and Beetles!
Today during class time we had a fun activity for the kids to do again! Our Wednesday group didn't get a chance to do it yesterday-decorate stained glass Christmas trees! Using contact paper, we stuck bits and pieces of tissue paper on the trees. We talked about how we didn't need to use glue to have the tissue paper stick! They all tested how sticky it was using their fingers. They had a blast :)
Hailey, Ella and Luka didn't hesitate to dive right into the tissue paper!
Hailey came to visit us today! She decided to decorate a reindeer instead!

Ella used a new technique to decorate the tree- crunch up the tissue paper and stick it on! :)
Gus dropped in too! He loved stacking the blocks as high as he could to make a huge tower!

John made a tree yesterday- so he decided to do a different station during class time. He chose the "What goes together?" game. :)

Candy Cane Walk
We bundled up the kids and headed out for a walk. While looking through the windows at all of the different decorations, a nice man that works at the Real Estate Agency, gave all of the kids candy canes!
Ava, Aliza, and Saige were excited to get a candy cane!
Presents from Little Hands
Bodhi and Aliza worked on painting presents for their family.
Using paint brushes and their hands they worked with yellow, blue, red, white and glitter paint to mix together and paint their gifts for you.
Stain Glass Christmas Tree Project
Using contact paper, a tree out-line, tissue paper, and their artistic minds Reid, Finn, Marley, John, and Layla made 'stain-glass' Christmas trees to bring home.
Marley picked through the tissue chooses to select the ones he wanted for his tree.
The are ready for pick-up this afternoon along with their other gifts they have made for you.
Beetles Christmas Trees
Myla colored her Christmas tree with markers before using her paint brush to glue on cotton balls.
Austin was more interested in painting his Christmas tree with glue. He made sure to "paint" glue all over his tree!

The Centipedes are really into Christmas and making things for their families.
Eli got busy painting with glue and adding decorations to his tree.
Finn and Grace Josephine worked with paint and said that they were making pictures for their Mommy and Daddy.
Luka, Alena, Ruby, and Grace Jane worked on making presents for their family too.

Ice Skating Adventures!
Today we took a trip down to the Seattle Center. We went in the Center House to look at the train and decorations, and then went ice skating! Jackson decided to watch everyone ice skate, and had a great time doing it. :) We didn't get a picture of Reid ice skating, but he did a round and wanted to go hangout with Jackson. :) We all had a blast-take a look into our day...

Beetles Rollin'
The Beetles used rollers, red, blue, and yellow paint to help paint Austin's body outline.
They are getting to use rollers today instead of their usual brushes and hands to see how the rollers move the paint and how to work the with them.

So Many Choices- We can do them all!
Every morning after circle time, the preschoolers have the opportunity to focus on an individual or small-group activity that they would like to pursue. Today they had 45 minutes to explore four activity stations; wood puzzles, markers for writing practice, collaging with glue, and easel painting.
Eleanor chose to sit down at one of the writing desks and make a Christmas card for her mom and dad. We helped her fold her paper in half and she went to work decorating it.
Grace headed straight to the puzzle table and chose to work on the Farm puzzle first. She held up the pig piece and said, "This piggy is my favorite one."
Ezze spent a lot of time at the easel creating her beautiful masterpiece. She covered her paper in large vertical paint brush strokes of all different colors.
John and Finn chose to paint together. They talked to each other as they painted and agreed that they were both painting fire engines and large pink elephants. :)
Silas was eager to get to work collaging a Christmas tree. His favorite part was spreading the glue.
Layla wanted all the sparkly sequins for her tree. She asked Eli if she could have his sparkly ones and he was happy to oblige.
Eli was very particular about where each of his ornaments was hung on his tree. He made lines of connecting shapes that he called "the lights".

Holiday Books To Share
Today Ezze brought in two great books from home to share with her friends.
We all enjoyed reading the two silly stories with Carrie. We giggled reading about the pokey little puppy and the lost mitten in the snow.
We also enjoyed some trail mix (with a special marshmallow surprise) for a morning snack while we listened.

Rain Rain, Don't Go Away!
The weather today looked pretty gloomy. Before heading outside there was lots of grumbling (from grown-ups and kids alike) about how rainy it was outside and how difficult it was to get all our rain gear on.
But once the Centipedes were all bundled up in their rain gear, they thought it was pretty fun to jump and splash together in the puddles on their morning walk.
Storytime- Exploring Books Every Day
Every day after lunch time all of the kids head into the classroom for a half an hour of quiet time before the lights are turned off for nap. They each have the choice to go to their own mats and read quietly, share books on a friend's mat, or join one of the teachers for a group story time.
Today Myla didn't want to look at any books on her mat. She snuggled with her stuffed piggy instead and watched her friends around the room.
Dorothy chose to read alone on her mat today. She looked through a big book called "The Twentieth Century Children's Book Treasury". As she flipped through the pages she recognized all of the stories that she reads with her mom and dad at home.
Saige flipped through the pages of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" and sang along. When I came to take her picture she laughed and played peek-a-boo with her book.
John, Quinn, Jackson, Finn, and Reid chose to listen to Jenna read stories aloud. Today she read holiday books about Christmas and Santa Clause.
Marley sat with Bodhi and looked through a board book with funny changing shapes in it. Marley pointed to each of the pictures and said, "Isn't that silly, Bodhi?" They laughed at each one. When they finished reading that book they decided to read it again.
Layla sat between Ava and Aliza flipping through the pages of "Twinkle Twinkle, Little Star". Layla sang the words while Ava and Aliza hummed along.

Ruby- "Watch out Reid, a shark is biting you."
Reid- "Oh yeah, I see that shark. I gotta good idea. I gotta get a fisherman."
Reid gets out of his boat to get two colorful square scarves. He hands one to Ruby and one to Finn.
Finn- "Yeah, Reid. It's a fisherman net. A shark catcher. I ate my shark."
Finn pretends to catch a shark with his scarf and then eat it.
Finn- "We like the sharks. They are a special treat. Here I got one. I put it in your lap, John. You want to eat it? It's a gummy shark."
Ruby, "I am singing a Spanish song to get the sharks away. I'm also taking pictures of you, Jena. You are sitting on the shore. You are sitting in the sand."
Ruby pretends to take photos of me, the sharks, and her friends.
John- "I call my Nana. My Nana come get me. Hi Nana. Come pick me up at nine."
