The babies are all asleep and I have a moment to sit here on the couch, sipping some tea, and listen to the wind. I'm still waiting for this supposedly treacherous snow storm to begin. Is all this weather hype just a racket? Currently the skies are clear and the sun is shining. Reid and I ventured over to Thriftway this morning to get some ingredients for lunch and it was still pretty chilly out, though. He was just two rosy red cheeks peeking out happily from the stroller to wave and point at everyone.
Reid is moving from two naps to one nap so Kate and I enjoyed his solo company this morning while Layla and Finn were snoozing. He played happily throughout the room; stopping to flip through the pages of a book and to look out the window. He explored the tunnel a little and practiced taking steps with Kate. Reid was just going down for his morning nap as Finn was waking up. Finn enjoyed standing and cruising back and forth along the red couch while looking out the window we me... pointing out birds, cars, and tree branches blowing in the wind. Finn, Layla, and I read books together (Finn's got more of an attention span for "touch and feel" or "lift-the-flap" books and Layla seems to enjoy the singing books most. We sang some fingerplays together. A current favorite uses sign language and the kids love it.
"Little Bird"
There once was a bird that went hop, hop, hop (hop fingers on opposite palm)
and I said to the bird "would you stop, stop, stop!" (hit side of one hand onto palm of other hand)
I went to the window to say "how do you do?" (peek through circle made with hands)
and he shook his little head (shake your head) and away he flew (flap arms)
There are only 3 kids downstairs this afternoon so we'll be joining them to play after Fiin wakes from his nap. Reid and Finn love climbing up the loft stairs and looking down at the room from the landing. Layla is content to sit in the excersaucer and watch the kids busily playing around her.
