Dot & Ziggy

Dot & Ziggy are two friends that have differences that learn how to get along and work out their problems by sharing and taking turns, a lesson all the kids could relate to. Dot is a Ladybug played by both an actress and a puppet. Ziggy is a skunk, also played by and actor and a puppet.

After the show the kids loved getting to meet the characters and gently touch the puppets.

Ziggy is a skunk that loves stripes and zig-zags. Lena was a bit in awe as she met him up close.

This friendly spider helped Dot and Ziggy work out their issues and was a great hit that the kids loved getting to meet.

Kaya, Raya, and Layla all experienced petting Ziggy's nose after the show.

During the show, they loved singing and dancing with the characters to some of their favorite songs. Raya stood in awe at times smiling and clapping, living completely in the moment of the play.

Reid joined us along with Finn, Grace, and Layla and had a great time.

Live theater is amazing for children of all ages. Interactive theater like Dot & Ziggy can capture their imaginations and help them enter a whole new world. They could have fun and help the friendly creatures figure out how to get along even though they liked to do things very differently. It was awesome to see them get excited and involved in the songs and dancing along with the characters, leaving this world and fully getting engaged in another.

Love, Love, Love!

At Tiny Tribe we whole-heartedly believe that our most important role as caregivers is to ensure that all of our children feel unconditional love and acceptance.

We recognize that all people, including children, are more motivated by feelings of belonging and significance than they are by external rewards and punishments.

Early childhood is an important time for the development of child-directed play and socialization.

Children learn best through everyday organic experiences; like pretending, building, painting, dancing, singing, cooking, exploring, and discovering.

We want them to have fun, get messy, challenge their bodies, and use their critical thinking skills every day.

We talk to them, listen to them, play with them, sing with them, laugh with them, and learn from them. We give them choices whenever possible. We get down on their level, look them in the eyes, and speak using a calm voice. We accept all of their emotions and help them find words to express them.

We give them the responsibility of working out their own problems.

Our main goal is to help children develop an internal locus of control, instead of relying on external means for controlling their behavior.

We are human, too. When we make mistakes we apologize and start over. We give them time to react and time to make decisions about their behavior.

Valentine's Day is lovely excuse to express the love we feel for our friends and family members. All you need is love, love...Love is all you need.

Spotlight At The Kenney

We had a great time at the Kenney Home today. There was an obstacle course for us to maneuver through. We found different ways to play and use the hoola-hoops, from swirling them, to climbing and jumping through them, to tossing balls through; we kept reinventing them for more and more fun activities to do. We sang songs and played with the residents and even joined in and did some of their exercises on the exercise CD. We hope you enjoy some of our snap shots from our morning.

Welcoming a new friend, Kate

Everyone was interested in meeting a new friend today. Nolan's little sister, Kate, joined our Tiny Tribe family for her first day. She seemed to enjoy all of the activities and new people.
