In China and Japan, the cherry blossom is more than just a beautiful flowering tree. The significance of the cherry blossom tree in Asian cultures, goes back hundreds of years.

When the cherry blossom trees bloom for a short time each year in brilliant force, they serve as a visual reminder of how precious and how precarious life is.

The preschoolers also looked for other signs of new life on their neighborhood walk this morning. They found many signs of Spring, like daffodils sprouting and new leaf buds growing on the trees.

During class time we created our own cherry blossoms by stringing circles of tissue paper (with holes punched into them) onto a pipe cleaner.

The cherry blossom represents the fragility and the beauty of life. It's a reminder that life is sometimes overwhelmingly beautiful but that it can also sometimes be tragically short. This can be a reminder for us to appreciate and notice the precious life around us each day, like the unique and special children whom the teachers at Tiny Tribe are blessed to spend their days with.

This month we are trying out a few new field trip destinations around our area and we were impressed and excited about our first visit to Little Diggers Playtime at Sandbox Sports nearby in Georgetown this morning.

The huge indoor sand volleyball court was the perfect place for our toddlers and preschoolers to run, jump, roll, bury, slide, laugh, kick, shovel, and dump.

The sand was cold and smooth. Many of the preschoolers buried themselves and helped bury their friends in the cool soft sand.

All of the kids were excited and inspired in the new unique environment.

While pulling each other in the wagon eventually proved to be an impossible feat for all of the two year olds, they did still take turns trying to pull each other around in the sand.

Kaya came to school prepared today, wearing her new bikini underneath her clothes. She explained that it had just arrived in the mail for her upcoming trip to visit her grandparents over Spring Break and she was too excited to take it off. Perfect for her we were heading to the "beach" today.
