Writing and Drawing Practice During Circle Time

Today during Circle Time, the Centipedes did some great practice with a pen and paper.  In order to track their writing and fine motor skill progress, we often have them draw self-portraits of themselves and practice writing their names.  The kids today drew brilliant pictures of themselves and talked about what they look like and how to draw themselves.

Finn: In my picture I don't have hair.
Jena: Do you have hair in real life?
Finn: Yeah!

The kids used different colors and added to their picture things like the clothes that they like to wear, thier hair, and how they view themselves.  Over time, these self-portraits and writing show a lot of progress in the child's ability to hold a writing utensil and write.
