Toddlers are in the manipulative stage of development. Creating on the chalkboard for a one-year-old, like Grant, is full of learning about cause and effect. They are little scientists, discovering how they can change, affect, and control the things in their environment.
Chloe is deciding which color to use. She is developing language and learning new words.
Zoe enjoys the process of sticking items to the contact paper and also taking them off. She doesn't know she she "making" anything. She's in the moment with her senses, feeling and seeing.
Wiley discovered that he can change the drawing on the easel with his hand by wiping away the chalk with his finger.
Katy, and the other toddlers, are expressing their own creative freedom to choose.
