We always start our day off with a nice healthy breakfast. This morning the toddlers gobbled up oatmeal sweetened with maple syrup & watermelon. For most of them, this is breakfast number two because lots of our kids eat before they come at home, too. After breakfast, we have little bit of free play time around the room while the teachers change diapers and help toddlers use the potty. The two classes are together during this time
and the preschoolers usually engage and inspire the toddlers in all
kinds of building and creative play. Our room is divided into a dramatic
play side (with costumes, a play kitchen, and props like doctor kits
and tool boxes) and a building side (stocked with blocks of all kinds,
tracks, puzzles, little people, cars and other vehicles).
Around 9:30am we all help clean the room up. It's usually pretty messy after free play. We use the same clean-up song everyday.

After our room is tidy, we dance to a few songs during "dance party". They really need to get their wiggles out before we expect them to sit still for a few minutes and participate in circle time.
During circle time, we usually enjoy a morning snack. Today we had some pirate booty to go along with pirate exploration curriculum for this week and some blueberries too.
We often have a Centipede helper join us for toddler circle time and today Layla "read" the toddler's the Eric Carle book,"Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear?". She's read it so many times that she can "read" it from memory now. :) She used the corresponding felt board pieces to bring the story to life and allow the toddlers to participate by sticking their animals onto the felt.
We made up a new song to the tune of "Five Little Monkeys" and acted it out with this fishing boat.

After circle time and class time, we head outside for our morning walk in the big red buggy. (Rain or shine!) Four toddlers can safely walk around the Junction in style with their teacher. We are quite the sight, as you can imagine, and many people stop to say hello to our adorable load of toddlers.
After an hour walk, we head back to school for some diaper changes and potty breaks before lunch. Lunch is homemade with love daily using all kinds of fresh, mostly organic, fruits and veggies, whole grains, and lean proteins. This image above isn't from today but we did enjoy Turkey Bolganese with tomato and red pepper sauce, penne pasta, and some broccoli.
After lunch, we head to our cots for a nap. We listen to the sound of the ocean every day to drown out some of the background noise and most of our toddlers sleep for at least two hours.
