Today, instead of a specific craft or project during story time, we gave the Centipedes different options. Set out on the table were enough markers and paper for a few kids to color, the alphabet matching game and a different game which used pegs to create towers.
Saige:
I see that the X-Ray begins with the letter "X", so they go together! I can figure out all of these puzzles!
Luka, John and Finn built spaceships with these blocks which click together.
Grace, Lena and Myla practiced writing with stencils.
During classroom time, when there are a lot of options, the Centipedes can choose to do whatever strikes their fancy, and this allows them to experiment with all of the toys, markers, and puzzles in the ways in which the toys were designed.
